Gun Control in America

When an intruder breaks in your house, you grab your phone and dial 9-11, but according to the I-Team, it takes police “15-20 minutes on average to respond to a burglary”. Now in that time, your safety is out of the police’s control. Gun ownership is important to me and my way of life, weather that be for personal protection, recreational shooting, or hunting. It is to my belief, the second amendment should not be infringed on.

Regardless of one’s position on the political spectrum, anyone would agree that gun violence and gun control is a major problem in America. The idea of more gun control is a bait, used by modern politicians to attract the feelings and fears of voters across America. The idea of more gun control, less guns sounds like the most effective way to drop murder rates and gun related crimes. In response to that, recent administrations have implemented more gun control across the nation as a way to theoretically drop gun related crimes. It seems that no improvements have been seen in the past eight years following the past administration dramatic increase on gun control. The idea of the second amendment was to give law abiding citizens personal protection from all forms of evil. It is an unconstitutional idea to take away a person’s last line of defense in a violent situation.

As Stated by the supreme court, “The second amendment protects an individual’s right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a military and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense at home”. It is constitutionally right for Americans to possess and utilize firearms for lawful purposes. Civilian’s who possess firearms are the backbone of law and order in the United States of America. Not only is it the first line of defense but also the last line in deadly situations. It is vitally important that citizens are permitted to possess and carry firearms at all times in order to deter criminals and minimize crimes. Current regulations are ineffective and deadly causing nothing but damage across the country. It’s unfortunate that so many useless regulations are in place. According to Ted Nugent, “Where you have the most armed citizens in America, you have the lowest violent crime rate. Where you have the worst gun control, you have the highest crime rate. Regulations need to be weakened so law abiding citizens can more easily carry their firearms around with them and more freely allow them to get possession of them. There is no evident purpose of gun control imposed by corrupt politicians besides the idea of their implementation. Gun control laws do not reduce firearms death rates, many of which backfired and raised the rates. There is no history or proven facts to prove that gun control works and that more regulations will help reduce death rates. Instead, all research contradicts modern claims promoting the idea of more regulations and laws on guns.  Which brings up the question, Is gun control just a political stunt used to scare voters and get politicians elected?

The evidence exists and any person would agree that gun violence is a rising problem that must be addressed in today’s society. Cities like Chicago are taking human and economic tolls in result of the rising gun issue in America. The current efforts are clearly not working however history has taught America how to tackle the problem. It is time for real change that America needs and deserves, change that is expensive, but necessary. The question one must ask themselves is why isn’t the problem being fixed, why are politicians constantly lying and scaring americans, could it just be because they want votes?
