Save up a pile of money and start getting prepared for the Entrepreneurship and Woods product launch. Next week, the two Geneva High School classes will be releasing a variety of products that the community will be able to purchase. Some of the products include coasters, shelves and most importantly, mini cornhole.
Jamie Dunlap, the Entrepreneurship teacher, has the details on how to purchase one of the unique products.
“You will be able to buy these products through the brochures that will be sent out at Geneva High School or by contacting the students in each specific group,” Dunlap said. “I will also help operate this process, so if you have any questions about purchasing any product make sure to ask me.”
This is not the first year Dunlap has done this project with her students. This is an Entrepreneurship tradition.
“I believe I started this project around six or seven years ago,” Dunlap said. “We started doing this project with the art and ceramics class for a couple of years, but I believed there was a way for our products to improve, and that is why we partnered up with the woods.”
In addition, all the profit goes towards a great cause.
“The students all voted on a specific charity, and they chose Cal’s Angels, a charity that funds research for kids fighting cancer,” Dunlap said.
Entrepreneurship students Ryan Fioresi and Stefan Cvijetic also have contributed to this project, helping to produce a Mini Cornhole. Fioresi believes that his product is superior to all the competition that this project has to offer.
“We will be making a mini cornhole set that will come with 8 bags total, and the consumer has the option to customize each cornhole by engraving their name on the bottom,” Fioresi said. “I believe our group will easily make the most sales. Our product is unique and different from the rest, our product is way more interactive which is more appealing to the Geneva students target market.”
Producing this mini cornhole was a group effort and Cvijetic played a crucial role in the process.
“I am the head of marketing and I advertise the product on Instagram, so go check it out because it is full of funny and intriguing posts,” Cvijetic said. “I also made flyers that will be handed out next week.”
Similarly, Fioresi had a big role as well on the team, serving as what some would call a team captain.
“I had the honor to be the project manager and make sure everyone is getting their specific tasks done in a timely manner,” Fioresi said. “This job was stressful at times, but someone had to step up as a leader for the team.”
Having students work as a team, like Fioresi and Cvijetic, is something Dunlap wants their students to learn while executing this project, as well as much more.
“This project is helping the students learn how the production of a product works and how to go through a manufacturer, going over costs and the ins and outs,” Dunlap said. “This project also helps the students learn the importance of communication in a workplace, and how to work as a team.”
This project is something that Geneva is very excited about because it is full of great products and good incentives. Don’t miss out on making a purchase!
