Key hopes

December 3, 2015

On December 4th
All were quite near
Downtown Geneva was filled with cheer
For the singing of students
Was ringing through the air
To the sound of bells that care

As winter descends upon State Street and 3rd, Key Club will bear the cold for a melodic cause harmonizing support for millions of Americans today.
For over 13 years, Key Club and the Salvation Army have partnered to sponsor peoples in need by collecting donations from everyday Samaritans. From the organization’s creation in 1865, the Salvation Army has developed the ideal that every citizen despite race, religion, etc. deserves a quality of life in which food, clothing, and housing are met as basic necessities of life. The red kettle which they carry may seem small, but in reality every penny represents a smile of hope and every dollar a Christmas present towards an elated child. From December 4th to December 5th, Key Club members will carol, jingle, and dance upon every corner as Downtown Geneva begins its annual holiday Christmas Walk. Last year, the merry heroes, in red and green, of Key Club collected around 5000 dollars in donations. This year, Key Club, in turn, hopes to inspire the Geneva community to exceed its previous donation total among the glowing lights of Downtown Geneva’s Christmas celebration.
