Shoe Drive for key club

From the pitter-patter of dancing toes, to the spatter of boots and daring goals, shoes define human character across the world. This year, Key Club, the Association for Individual Development, Heartland Elementary School, and Williamsburg Elementary School have banded together to sponsor those in need through the donation and collection of shoes across Geneva.

For 54 years, the Association for Individual Development has inspired a spirit of resilience through its efforts to help the physically, mentally, and intellectually challenged to take a positive step in the right direction. AID offers therapy, housing, vocational training, job guidance, community intervention, and more to thousands around the world every year, but most significant of all it provides the necessities needed to maintain and achieve a quality of life. Shoes may appear of little value, but in reality they represent protection from the elements, even social acceptance, and the confidence to make a mark upon the world. Shoe barrels will be set up in the main office and classroom E171 until the end of February to collect shoes of all ages from toddlers to adults. Shoes with heals over 2 inches, slippers, roller skates, ice skates, or single shoes however, are considered nonessential and cannot be properly recycled or distributed. All it takes is one step to change a life forever.
