Football preview: Geneva vs St. Charles North

The Vikings will play the St. Charles North Stars at Burgess Field on Friday, September 17.

Last Friday, the Vikings blew out Streamwood 55-22, and the North Stars destroyed West Chicago 62-0. Donny Friedel started the last game with a 95 yard kick return for a touchdown. Ryan Skibinski converted a fake field goal for a surprise touchdown. Geneva led 35-0 during halftime.  Quarterback Sean Chambers has thrown 8 touchdown passes during his first 3 games.

According to Chicago Tribune, Nick Koenig, number 74 of St. Charles North, is being recruited by NCAA Division I schools.

Quinn Calcagno had five sacks last year and 240-pounder Jack Glavin is also on the defensive line.

The Daily Herald reports that Jayson Reckards has 7 catches for 158 yards which is best for the entire team. Junior Tyler Mettetal, a South Carolina baseball commit, has made 8 catches for 97 yards and has scored a touchdown.

Geneva and St. Charles North are currently both undefeated teams with a 3-0 record. Geneva is ranked 30 in the state, while St. Charles North is ranked 45, according to MaxPreps.  The Vikings are favorited to beat St. Charles North on Friday night because they have the home field advantage.

St. Charles North lost to Geneva 31-19 on their home field.  They are looking to return the favor.
